About Me

Welcome to my website! I’m a queer poet, elder, storyteller, and visual artist. A former Penn State professor and Fortune 500 vice president, I retired into the social vacuum of Covid-19 and happily returned to poetry after decades of writing prose in business and academia.

Delighted to be building a community of imaginative creative writers, I hold an abiding belief in the power of small groups to accomplish great things, from achieving social justice in organizations to workshopping a poem that isn’t quite there yet. I hold a doctorate (2004) from Columbia University in New York City and an MFA (2026) from Spalding University in Louisville, KY.

My work has appeared in Gargoyle,Yellow Arrow Journal, Maryland Literary Review, and Pen in Hand among others. My poem Ink was the second-place finisher in the 2025 Helen Conroy Kennedy Poetry Contest. My chapbook, Rooms for Love is available through Bottlecap Press, and all my proceeds from its sales will be donated to the Baltimore women’s shelter House of Ruth Maryland.

I’m a relentlessly curious world-traveler who proudly calls Baltimore Maryland home. I live there with my wife Gail, and my little dog Moxie.

I hope my path crosses with yours someday, and sooner rather than later!
